Nicole & Kevin’s Orange Park Country Club Wedding & Break dancing: Clay County & Duval Photographer

Kevin and Nicole have to be one of the sweetest and most sincere couples I have ever worked with.

I first got to work with them at their engagement session, which was us basically walking around downtown and ending up in front of the Florida Theater while Kevin break danced. (He’s a professional!.)

I can’t recommend an engagement session more. It’s just a great way for the couple to get to know me the photographer, my style and become comfortable. The wedding day goes sooo much more smoothly when the bride and groom know what to expect and it’s like they are inviting me as a friend into the room, not a stranger.2014-01-22_0014

  • How did you two meet?
We actually met in junior high…he kinda stuck out bc he was always getting in trouble for breakdancing in the hallway between classses and we initially hung out the summer before highschool, when we first started dating :)
  •  When did you know they were THE ONE?
We practically grew up together as teenagers and I went to nursing school and he always stood by my side no matter how stressful it got. I feel I knew all along but we just were so young we had to grow together and build a strong foundation..almost a decade later lol he popped the question and without a doubt I said “yes”!
  • How did the proposal happen?
4th of July morning 2012 we went for a jog, After a sweaty run in his parents neighborhood he couldn’t wait he got down on his knee in his room just the 2 of us and asked..will you marry me? His initial plan was to propose that night with his family present at the Hyatt downtown where we were all staying to watch the fireworks show..but he couldn’t wait and he wanted it to be just the 2 of us:)

They had a beautiful Filipino wedding. Bright orange colors.

2014-01-22_0008You can always tell the difference between the women getting ready and the guys. The girls are rushing over every last detail. The guys… well these guys had enough time to go out with our second shooter Fran and get shots of themselves doing break dancing moves, lol!

What was the best part of your wedding day?
Stepping out onto the isle holding my daddy’s arm and seeing how beautiful and serene the ceremony looked, and everyone standing up looking at me, it took my breath away.

I love being at the end of the aisle and getting photos of the couple walking out, there is always such a big smile on both of their faces and sometimes they just have the best reactions to the crowd. In this case, I couldn’t help but love Kevin’s swagger! LOL. He is just sooo happy! He was even doing a little dance at the alter waiting to kiss the bride, it was just too sweet!

2014-01-22_0010We had a good time with their formals and got some fun ones of them with their bridal party.

2014-01-22_0011My second shooter for this wedding, Fran, caught this photo of Kevin with his arm around me while I was shooting the bridal party. I have never had that happen during formals, lol!

“I’m just amazed it was a long a stressful journey and all the stress was lifted when I walked down that isle! Night before my aunt and her family which she and my uncle were one of my sponsors and their 2 sons were the ushers were stranded at LAX airport bc of a tragic shooting causing the airport to b shut down , I thought they weren’t coming and I needed a back up..also I thought one of my bridesmaids couldn’t make it(my own sister) ..that night it poured and rained so much..we had no back up plan I wanted an outdoor wedding..I woke up wedding day morning the rain had stopped, my sister (bridesmaid ) was here, and my aunt and her family were at the airport!!! Everything was fixed ! It was crazy and I was overjoyed! As the hours went by the rain had dried up and the weather was perfect! We were blessed:)” –Nicole

Kevin and his crew put on a break dancing show towards the end of the night. It was a blast! BTW, if you are looking for an officiant, check out Bob Hovey, of First Coast Ceremonies. Not only does he have a great personality, always smiling, but he was dancing at the reception and recording the break-dancing to share with his congregation that Sunday!

Nicole says: “We agree we would not change one thing! To us it was perfect.”2014-01-22_0013

Nicole, if you could tell your spouse anything special right now, what would it be?
I’m lucky to call you my husband and I’ll be here for you decades more:)
